4 hours in the Jungle for an amazing beach – Tayrona Park, Colombia
I’ve decided to take a small break from the city life to go out and discover the nature. Luckily for me, Colombia offers many places for that.
Being in the Sierra Nevada, the obvious spot for a good walk is the Natural reserve of the Park Tayrona. The park is only an hour away from the city and offers a rich diversity of nature, jungle, hills and beautiful beaches.
As any other reserve, the goal is to preserve the nature and the eco-system. But as part of them, the management of the park as set up ways for visitors to enjoy the nature and get connected to environment with multiples treks that will take you to the beach and even a place to stay overnight if you feel like it.
The park covers 150 square kilometres (58 sq mi) of land and is home to over 100 species of mammals and 300 of birds. When you get there, you are offered a choice to either take a bus which brings you closer to the beach or walk… We decided to take the high road and go for a stroll. The 4 hours of walking felt absolutely worth it after running into a few monkeys and birds.
